Surfing the Curb

It is a well known fact among my friends that I have an addiction. I have no shame about it really. As far as I am concerned I am a visionary. An artist. A compulsive adopter of lost and lonely children discarded at the side of the road by their cruel parents.  A hero really, if you think about it.

Don’t listen to the rest of them, well… umm… they are just mistaken.

Dumpster Diver, Curb Surfer, Craigslist Hunter, Garage Sale Savior, The Refinisher… call me what you like, but I can look at a pile of pieces and see the furniture inside. Mostly. If you listen to the husband it is Junk Collector.

Now here me out, there are rules. I have to be able to finish it within 6 weeks. It has to have a destination (my house or yours, either is fine) I generally do not resell them, that seems like child trafficking *shudders*

For instance I found this piece discarded at a fire driven yard sale. It’s life cut short, covered in soot and smelling like a campsite. Normally I don’t use strippers nut this one needed a good nuking. Husband wanted a nice bright color (Walking Dead Red) since it was slated for his office at the shop. $5 dollars well spent I would say.

I stripped it one Saturday and in between jobs glued it back together where needed. Husband wanted a nice bright color (Walking Dead Red) since it was slated for his office at the shop. You can see it behind the wet cat, hiding as it waits for its doors. Final project was deemed a full success. Well except that she is still waiting on knobs…  I have to find some discarded drawers next bulky pick up. Buying new ones spoils all the fun.
